It’s Summer (almost!)- and I have just set up my showcase with the Designer Jewellers Group and our summer show at the Barbican, London. We are open from now until the 1st of June.

Pictured here are some new pieces that I’m pretty pleased with- maybe the photos aren’t the best but photographing silver jewellery is very difficult…

Methods of manufacture was a mix of Rapid Prototyping, casting and hand finishing and assembley… has certainly opened some new doors and cut down on some costs too- brilliant!

I used Rapid Models in Birmingham to do the 3D printing from my  Illustrator drawings…

New work and shows…

Next week I am at the Barbican with the Designer Jewellers Group Summer Show.

Have just spent the day photographing some new pieces I’ve been making- all silver and gold.

Hair

Now this is interesting…! Jewellery made from hair #hairyjewellery ?

H H for Hair in the Blogging from A to Z challenge .

I had no idea that hair jewellery was ever popular, did you? Not as in jewellery to decorate your hair, like tiaras or hair combs, but jewellery made of human hair.

Not something that is appealing to me. Hair somehow feels like a part of my body. So strange to wear jewellery made by something that once belonged to another person’s body.

It is a material that lasts very long. Having said that, I see in front of me a skeleton with still some hair on it. Sorry, I am moving from Hair to Horror here, but again, I do think there is something very odd about recycling human hair for jewellery.

It was in the online collection Smycken by Nordiska Museet that I first saw jewellery made of hair. It is not my personal taste, but I …

Only two more sleeps until I leave for New York! 5 day trip to spend with husband and dear friends who have relocated there from our home town of sleepy Lewes! So excited…

In the meantime I have just finished a commission for two pendants, for 20th anniversary gifts from a husband and wife, to each other.

Stylised letters of J and a K, in silver with oxidised detail and emerald set in 18ct yellow gold. Customers very

happy, and a lovely job for me to do!

Changes

Happy New Year… a little late…
Stop Press…I have left the confines of my bijou studio at home and am now working in the bustling hub of Lewes, in Abby Mosseri’s studio, next to the Star Brewery. Lots going on there, creatives all over the shop-I think its going to be alright! Trufa is hoping she can come some days tooImage

And more shows…

And more shows, its that time of year!

Just been so busy I have hardly had time to think, let alone blog…!

Made London was a good show for me and I met some lovely new customers too. Blessed to be in such a beautiful venue and with such fantastic makers.

I only managed to whizz around the show once but Sara Moorhouse’s ceramics are just blissful and one day I will own one piece…

This coming Friday is the start of The Designer Jewellers Winter show at the Barbican, again blessed to have my work in such another fantastic venue. Show runs until the very beginning of January…and then the week after is Made Brighton. So much to do, so little time. Still not planted my tulips, nor done any of the gardening jobs I said I would do. Must seize the remaining hours of the day and go gardening.

Summer is almost over…

But, still time for pretty colours still? I think so!

I made this necklace earlier in the summer with silver and glass beads. (already been on my Facebook page I know), but I’m making a few more at the moment, in time for autumn shows which are coming soon! Priced competitively and really rather reasonable…and I have new rings in a similar vein which will be here soon too. Watch this space…
